Database Administrator (DBA)

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Database Administrator (DBA) who can join our team in Chennai. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in installing, configuring, and maintaining as well as excellent in database management and troubleshooting. 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus
• Proven experience as a Database Administrator or similar role
• Proficiency in installing, configuring, and maintaining database management systems (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server) 

• Strong knowledge of performance optimization, query tuning, and troubleshooting 
• Familiarity with backup and recovery strategies to ensure data protection
• Experience in monitoring server health and implementing access controls
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams 

• Relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator) are advantageous

1.Database Installation, Configuration, and Maintenance: 

• Install and configure various database management systems (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server) to ensure seamless operations

• Regularly apply updates, patches, and version upgrades to maintain database security and functionality
• Monitor databases to identify and rectify any issues related to installation and configuration

2.Performance Optimization: 

• Analyze database performance metrics to identify areas for improvement
• Optimize queries, indexes, and database configurations for enhanced query response times

• Implement caching and other strategies to maximize database efficiency

3.Troubleshooting and Data Integrity: 

• Diagnose and resolve database-related issues promptly, ensuring minimal downtime
• Perform data validation and implement measures to maintain data integrity and consistency 
• Collaborate with developers to troubleshoot and optimize database-related code

4.Backup and Recovery: 

• Develop and execute robust backup and recovery strategies to safeguard critical data
• Regularly perform data backups and conduct recovery drills to ensure readiness for any unforeseen events

5.Server Health Monitoring: 

• Monitor database server health and performance metrics to proactively address potential issues

• Identify and rectify resource utilization problems to maintain optimal server performance

6.User Access and Security: 

• Manage user access permissions and roles to ensure data security and compliance
• Implement and enforce security protocols to protect sensitive information

7.Collaboration and Development Support: 

• Collaborate with development teams to provide database support and optimize database-related code
• Participate in design and architecture discussions to ensure efficient database operations

8.DR Drills Planning: 

• Develop and maintain disaster recovery (DR) plans, including conducting regular DR drills
• Ensure data availability and minimize downtime during disaster recovery scenarios
